Dragon Boat Festival
The 12th annual St. Catharines Dragon Boat Festival was held on July 23. Known as one of the best dragon boat festivals in Ontario, races were held on the historic Henley Rowing Course in Port Dalhousie. Over thirty teams were registered at this year’s event where all proceeds will benefit Wellspring Niagara and the St. Catharines Museum. Last year’s event raised over $36,000 for both organizations. Each dragon boat team consists of twenty-two people, 20 paddlers (with a minimum of 8 females), one drummer and a steer person. On site was a vendors village that featured dragon boat fashions and accessories, food and beverage tents and the Amazing Grace Tent City for all team tents that overlooked the race course.
