2008 November > Good Neighbours Week Finale Good Neighbours in St. Catharines celebrated their 10th Anniversary on Sunday, October 19th at Westminster Church Hall on Queenston Road. Constable Tim Whittle spoke on the facts and myths of different drugs including narcotics, inhalants, tobacco, stimulants, steroids, alcohol, depressants, and marijuana. Tim also showed a short video explaining the effects each drug has when taken. Whether it is psychologically or physically addicting, education is essential and that is why Tim's team visits schools to educate children from grade five and up to the dangers of drug use and the choice of continuing the lifestyle. Helen did a lovely job speaking of the arts from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Original paintings from artists in Trinidad and Tobago can be viewed on the second floor of City Hall until the end of the year. Eleanor Lancaster from Stokes Community Village (Page and Tasker Streets) was on hand to give updates on the village including many new programs like floor hockey, basketball and also a homework room. Many lovely prizes were donated from Niagara Parks Commission, Madamoiselle Fitness, and Vine Floral. Cake and refreshments were served after the meeting and the afternoon turned out to be very educational and an enjoyable event to cover.
