128th Royal Canadian Henley Regatta
The 2010 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta marked its 128th year of rowing on Martindale Pond the week of August 2nd to 8th. Since “the Henley” settled in St. Catharines in 1903 it has grown to become the largest regatta of its kind in North America. This year’s rowing competitions attracted over 2,500 athletes from across Canada, the United States and the world with 150 rowing clubs that competed to win a “Henley Gold” medal. The Canadian National Rowing teams competed for the first time ever at this year's Henley and captured four gold medals. The Niagara rowing crews dominated overall with the St. Catharines Rowing Club (SCRC) taking home six gold’s on Sunday, the regatta-best 18 overall and the efficiency trophy.
