RCL Branch 24 -Appreciating their Volunteers
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 held their annual Volunteer Appreciation Night on April 28. The event was off to a good start as guests mingled prior to enjoying a tasty Chinese buffet-style dinner from Nan King Chinese Cuisine. Awards were presented in a number of special task categories including cooking, setting up, fish fry’s, fish & shrimp fry’s, maintenance, cleaning, prep work, front desk and more. Along with these activities, members are passionate about the Poppy Campaign, Remembrance Day parades, decorating the graves and attending funerals of fallen comrades. Keeping the Memory Alive’s Friendship Award was given to Christopher Begy from Bank of Montreal which has donated $22,000 to date. At the end of the presentations, it did not take long for patrons to head to the dance floor when the music began to play. Branch 24 celebrated their 85th Anniversary in October 2011.
